The Forest
I started carrying my DSLR in my purse again - I removed it in January after I tore my ACL because the purse is super heavy with that camera in it. Without my DSLR with me at all times, I shifted towards using my iPhone instead.
But the big camera is back with me at all times and it came in handy Tuesday afternoon as I had 10 extra minutes to kill before my violin lesson. My teacher lives close to a forest preserve and it was a nice change of pace from the normal prairie vistas I normally photograph.
I learned these are called May Apples. They look like forest umbrellas that protect the forest floor.
And it was appropriate for me to find a fiddle head, right before violin lessons:
I still took an assortment of photos with my iPhone, but I tried to capture different vantage points with it:
If you live close to a forest preserve, make sure to go and visit it.

They DO look like little umbrellas - so pretty! I´m glad you brought the camera! :-)
Fabulous finds!
I'm glad you brought the big camera for these lovely photos.
Looks just like Spring. Great pictures!
Love the photo of the fiddlehead. I'm not sure we have those in our forest, but would love to see one up close. Nice shot!
Love your photos of the may apples. Ours won't be blooming for a long while yet. I haven't seen fiddleheads yet either.
Yes, how fun to find a fiddlehead in that particular form just before your lesson. Life is full of serendipity if you're open to it.
Beautiful!! Yay for carrying the camera in your purse again bummer for tearing your ACL
Looking at these, I'm getting anxious to go for a walk in the woods (or forest). I love the calm feeling of these photos. Thanks!
Lovely! I love the simplicity of that last one! I use my phone for photos a lot since my dslr broke!
