As cold as this winter has been, I still enjoy the beautiful winter scenes each morning as I drive to work. On cloudless days, the rising sun casts a golden glow on the snow, causing brilliant sparkles.
There is a highway Rest Area along my route to work and yesterday, I pulled into its parking area to take pictures of the glittering prairie.
The scene was just "OK" to me. It was cold (5degF) and I had to walk through the snow to get closer to the prairie preservation area. I decided to leave and as I trudged back to the car, I walked under a pine tree and discovered some lovely pine cones above my head:
So you never know where you might find something beautiful to take a picture of - it might be right above your head!
Makes me homesick, all that beautiful flatness.
